SDET Lead

TCS is seeking a highly experienced Lead Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to drive quality strategy, test automation excellence, and mobile testing capabilities across multiple Agile teams.This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who combines deep expertise in Mobile Automation (Appium), modern test automation frameworks, and team leadership. The successful candidate will be responsible for defining QA strategy, building scalable automation solutions, mentoring engineers, and partnering with Product, Engineering, and Business stakeholders to ensure high-quality software delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and mentor QA Engineers, Automation Engineers, and SDETs across multiple Agile teams.Define and implement test automation and quality engineering strategies.Design, build, and maintain scalable automation frameworks for web, mobile, and API testing.Drive automation-first testing practices and reduce manual testing efforts.Establish quality metrics, test coverage standards, and release readiness criteria.Collaborate with Engineering Managers, Product Owners, Business Analysts, and Technical Leads to ensure quality throughout the SDLC.Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps workflows.Lead test planning, execution, reporting, and defect management activities.Provide technical leadership on automation architecture, framework design, and test strategy.Coach team members and promote QA best practices across the organization.

Technical Requirements & Expertise

Proficiency with Selenium or Cypress and Appium testing UI functionalityStrong experience in Java and/or JavaScriptStrong experience with Cucumber and Gherkin developing acceptance tests JMeter for performance testing or other QA tasksHigh experience testing REST APIs with REST Assured and JavaHands-on experience with SQLGitHub/GitLab or similar version control systemUnix/Linux experienceNodeJSAgile experiencePostmanSplunk/CloudWatch
