Position OverviewWe are looking for a Senior Graph Data Engineer to join a high-impact technical evaluation team supporting an enterprise-scale data initiative. This role will focus on evaluating whether a large-scale knowledge graph should be supported by a purpose-built graph database or whether PostgreSQL can effectively meet the performance and scalability requirements.The ideal candidate will be hands-on, benchmark-driven, and comfortable working across graph databases, PostgreSQL, Databricks, APIs, and enterprise-scale data environments. This is a technical role where recommendations will be based on measured results, structured testing, and clear written analysis. Key ResponsibilitiesPull data from Databricks, transform it, and load it into multiple graph database candidates under controlled and repeatable conditions.Build and manage relationship structures and entity linkages within graph databases to reflect production-like data models.Implement benchmark queries using native graph query languages such as Cypher, GSQL, nGQL, AQL, and openCypher.Create PostgreSQL baseline queries using recursive CTEs for performance comparison.Build APIs against each database candidate to evaluate real-world query performance across multiple use cases.Design, execute, and document structured technology benchmarks at enterprise scale.Prepare scored candidate evaluations and written analysis to support final technology recommendations for engineering and architecture leadership. Required Skills and ExperienceStrong hands-on experience with Databricks.Practical experience with at least two graph databases.Strong preference for experience with Neo4j and/or TigerGraph.Working proficiency in Cypher is required.Strong PostgreSQL expertise, including:Recursive CTEsMaterialized viewsQuery plan analysisIndex strategyExperience setting up, testing, tearing down, and rebuilding database environments in a structured evaluation setup.Proven experience designing and executing enterprise-scale technology benchmarks.Strong analytical and documentation skills.Ability to work independently and provide data-backed technical recommendations. Preferred / Nice-to-Have SkillsKYC / AML domain knowledge.Experience with Kubernetes for database workloads.Experience with AWS-native database deployment.Exposure to enterprise knowledge graph or large-scale relationship-based data models.
