We're looking for a Senior Manager, Training & Capability Development, a strategic leader with experience in manufacturing, learning & development, workforce capability, and change management. This role ensures rapid, measurable skill acquisition across manufacturing and support functions while reinforcing a values-based environment that strengthens employee connection, engagement, and retention. The leader will build and own a scalable, data-driven training discipline that aligns workforce capability with business demand, quality requirements, and operational excellence standards—particularly within regulated medical device manufacturing environments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES include the following.
Training System Design & OwnershipLead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of a scalable training system that combines peer-to-peer learning with professional training delivery. Establish training standards, certification frameworks, and audit-ready processes while ensuring accountability for training outcomes. Partner with Operations and Quality to align workforce capability development with regulatory requirements (FDA, ISO) and business objectives, including productivity, quality, capacity, and scalability.
Capability Development & Skill AccelerationDevelop and scale workforce capability programs that accelerate employee proficiency through structured onboarding, competency-based development, and certification pathways. Enable manufacturing associates to serve as effective trainers through standardized coaching and on-the-job training practices, while leveraging professional trainers to ensure consistency, quality, and compliance. Lead and grow the training team, partnering closely with Operations to support production ramp-ups, workforce planning, and new product introductions.
Training Delivery & Execution ExcellenceEstablish and lead a scalable training delivery model that combines hands-on, associate-led learning with structured trainer-led instruction and validation. Standardize training processes, documentation, certification, and skill progression tracking to ensure consistency, quality, and compliance. Foster strong collaboration between manufacturing associates and professional trainers to deliver an effective and seamless learning experience.
Learning Systems, Data & AnalyticsLead and optimize the training technology ecosystem, including LMS and skills-tracking platforms, to drive a data-driven approach to workforce development. Establish and monitor key training metrics such as time-to-proficiency, certification rates, skill coverage, and training effectiveness. Leverage analytics and integrate training data with workforce planning, production, and quality systems to continuously improve learning outcomes and operational performance.
Culture, Engagement & RetentionIntegrate company values into the training experience to foster a culture of learning, collaboration, and accountability. Leverage peer-to-peer development and structured training programs to strengthen employee engagement, reinforce desired behaviors, and support clear career growth opportunities. Use training as a strategic tool to build workforce capability, enhance retention, and cultivate a strong organizational culture.
Leadership, Stakeholder Alignment & Change ManagementServe as the strategic owner of the training system, partnering with Operations, Quality, HR, and Continuous Improvement teams to align workforce development with business objectives. Lead organizational change by establishing a shared ownership model for training, empowering manufacturing associates as trainers while enabling training professionals to drive consistency and excellence. Champion training as a critical operational function that strengthens workforce capability, performance, and long-term business success.
Supervises: Training Supervisors and Training Specialists
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferredMinimum of 7 years of experience in: Manufacturing training systems, workforce capability, or operations leadershipDemonstrated success implementing structured, scalable training systems in regulated environmentsDeep understanding of:On-the-job and peer-based training modelsCompetency-based development frameworksFDA / ISO / compliance-driven training requirementsExperience in medical devices, life sciences, or similarly regulated manufacturing
Preferred:Experience designing hybrid training models combining peer-led and professional-led deliveryFamiliarity with LMS platforms and digital training toolsLean / Six Sigma certificationExperience in global manufacturing environments
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:B2+ English required.Computer literacy is required, experience with ERP systems, MS office package (Windows, excel, word, outlook) and basic computer configuration.Systems Builder: Designs scalable, durable training systems tied to business performanceOperator-Oriented: Understands manufacturing realities and embeds training into daily workCapability Multiplier: Enables both associates and trainers to develop others effectivelyData-Driven: Uses metrics to continuously improve training outcomesCulture Integrator: Leverages training as a primary vehicle for engagement and retention
