Senior Network & Cybersecurity Architect – Fortinet

Job Description: SmartLogix is seeking a Senior Network & Cybersecurity Architect – Fortinet to lead the assessment, design, modernization, implementation, and migration of enterprise Data Center network and security infrastructure.
This hands-on senior role combines architecture, engineering, and cybersecurity responsibilities, requiring expertise in Fortinet solutions, enterprise networking, Data Center environments, network segmentation, high availability, secure remote access, and infrastructure modernization. The successful candidate will guide projects from design through implementation, validation, documentation, and production support.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess existing network and security environments and design scalable target-state architectures.Implement and optimize enterprise routing, switching, segmentation, redundancy, and high-availability solutions.Configure and manage Fortinet technologies, including FortiGate, FortiSwitch, VDOMs, security policies, firmware upgrades, and secure remote access solutions.Lead infrastructure migration projects, including testing, validation, rollback planning, and production support.Troubleshoot complex network and cybersecurity issues while ensuring operational stability and security compliance.Produce technical documentation and provide knowledge transfer to customer IT teams.
Requirements:
5+ years of experience in enterprise networking, cybersecurity, or Data Center infrastructure.Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Network Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Strong hands-on experience with FortiGate and Fortinet security solutions.Experience with enterprise switching, routing, VLANs, network segmentation, redundancy, and high availability.Experience configuring FortiGate security policies, routing, and VDOMs.Experience implementing ZTNA and/or IPSec VPN solutions.Experience supporting network and security migrations in production environments.Strong technical documentation and architecture design experience.Ability to lead technical decisions while remaining hands-on during implementation.Availability to support scheduled after-hours production activities when required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Fortinet certifications (FCP, FCSS, NSE or equivalent).Cisco certifications (CCNP, CCIE).Experience with FortiGate 7.x and multi-VDOM environments.Experience with Data Center modernization and network transformation initiatives.Experience in enterprise, financial, government, or highly regulated environments.
