Whats unique about this job (What you’ll do) The Senior POS Specialist is an expert at PriceSmart’s Point of Sale application: Toshiba’s ELERA POS. They are proficient at supporting and deploying the systems, while also testing new features and functionality to ensure they meet business needs. The role also involves the ability to accurately capture new requirements from the business and work with the relevant development teams to see those requirements through to completion. As well as technical skills, the person in this role will need to be an expert at PriceSmart’s business processes in the various countries in which we operate.
Responsibilities
Customer Success:Ensure the new ELERA POS meets all business needs and provides critical enhancements over the legacy solution.
Requirement Compliance In partnership with the relevant business teams, provide expert level guidance on the settings and features needed for the POS to comply with all fiscal and operational requirements in all PriceSmart countries.
Testing of New DevelopmentWorking with 3rd party vendors and internal groups, provide reliable testing of new system features that are delivered by development teams.
Functional Areas of Expertise:Organizational Skills:Ability to work within tight deadlines and respond quickly to new requirements set forth by the business and by the governments of the PriceSmart countries.
DocumentationAbility to produce quality technical and functional documentation on all POS related processes and system configurations.
Communication:Able to work with groups across multiple internal teams and external partners in order to solve challenges and produce the best quality output.
Mentoring Though the Senior POS Specialist will not have direct reports, they will still need to provide guidance and training for junior team members.

Bring your passion and expertise (Who you are)
Education: Bachelor's in computer science or related field preferred.
Experience: 3+ years maintaining and supporting Point of Sale systems.
Technical Requirements:Proven experience in scripting (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell) for automation and system administration tasks.Experience working with Docker containers, including building, deploying, and managing containerized applications.Some experience with MongoDB, including performance tuning, backups, and query optimization.Experience downloading, parsing, and interpreting log files to troubleshoot issues, identify patterns, and support root cause analysis.Strong experience working with Linux-based systems (administration, command line, and troubleshooting).Expert knowledge in Point-of-Sale software support and administration.Experience with creating test plans and using test automation tools (e.g. TestRail).Strong technical knowledge of Windows desktop and server operating systems, Linux operating systems, and VMware.Basic network troubleshooting skills. Basic knowledge of TCP/IP, VLAN segmentation, and VPN setup and usage.Experience using and configuring tools for remote access and monitoring (e.g. RDP, NetOps, etc.).Knowledge of cloud fundamentals.Experience with endpoint security tools and basic cybersecurity protocols and best practices.Experience with disaster recovery planning and practices.Ability to manage software rollouts, version upgrades, and security patches.A minimum of conversational English is required; fluency preferred.
