Senior SysOp Engineer

About the role

GLOBAL HR CONSULTING 360 is seeking an experienced Senior SysOps Engineer to join a dynamic team. The role focuses on cloud computing, particularly AWS, and infrastructure management using CloudFormation and AWS ControlTower.

Responsibilities

• Operate, secure, and cost-optimize AWS production workloads on ECS (Fargate and EC2), RDS MySQL/MariaDB, ALB/NLB, and CloudFront.
• Build and maintain infrastructure as code in CloudFormation, including StackSets, with changes reviewed by pull request.
• Govern the multi-account AWS Organization with Control Tower, including OUs, guardrails, Account Factory, Log Archive, and Audit accounts.
• Design and run networking using VPCs, security groups, Route 53, VPC peering or Transit Gateway, ACM certificates, and TLS policies.
• Set up and troubleshoot site-to-site VPN tunnels with customers, including agreeing on tunnel parameters with their network teams.
• Own RDS operations, including backups, snapshots, engine upgrades, replication, and low-downtime migrations.
• Monitor with CloudWatch, route alerts to Slack, respond to incidents, and write post-incident notes.
• Maintain security tooling, including GuardDuty, WAF, KMS, and IAM Identity Center, and produce SOC 2 evidence and change records.
• Migrate Elastic Beanstalk workloads to ECS.
• Automate operations with Bash, Python, the AWS CLI, and GitHub Actions.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience operating AWS production workloads you were responsible for when they broke.
• 3+ years of experience running containers on Amazon ECS in production.
• Production experience with CloudFormation.
• Experience operating a multi-account AWS Organization under Control Tower.
• Strong AWS networking experience, including VPC design, security groups, load balancers and TLS, and site-to-site VPN.
• RDS operations experience with MySQL or MariaDB.
• Linux administration and scripting in Bash and Python.
