Summary/Objective: We're hiring an SEO Coordinator to help drive organic growth for an optical retail brand that operates across two connected channels: 300+ physical retail locations in the U.S.A. and a direct-to-consumer ecommerce business selling glasses, contacts, and eye health products and services. The role supports both sides of that business, balancing local search visibility that drives in-store traffic with on-site optimization that drives online conversions.
You'll work as a hands-on execution partner to our SEO Manager, with primary ownership of local SEO and Google Business Profile management at scale, on-page optimization across location and ecommerce pages, keyword research, and performance reporting. You'll also play a defined role in our new store opening process, ensuring every new location launches with proper SEO foundations in place.
This is a structured, sprint-based development environment where SEO improvements are scoped, ticketed, and shipped on a defined release of cadence. Some changes you'll make yourself directly in our CMS. Others will require writing detailed specs for our engineering team to implement. Comfort operating inside that workflow, and the discipline to plan work 4+ weeks ahead, is essential to succeeding here.
Responsibilities: Local SEO & Google Business Profile Manage, track & optimize 300+ GBP listings: categories, hours, services, photos, posts, and Q&A Audit, monitor & troubleshoot our reputation management tools Audit NAP (Name, Address, Phone) and citation consistency across the location portfolio Surface and prioritize local ranking opportunities by market Coordinate updates for seasonal store hours, promotions and operational changes to reflect in GBP, Yelp, Google Maps, etc. Flag and resolve issues such as duplicate listings, suspensions, or NAP inconsistencies
New Store Opening Support Set & coordinate landmarks for new stores Own the SEO components of our new store opening playbook in coordination with operations and the SEO Lead Create and verify Google Business Profile listings for new locations Partner with internal teams to ensure new location pages launch with optimized titles, meta descriptions, and on-page content Monitor local visibility and listing health during the first 30 to 90 days post-launch
On-Page Optimization (Local & Ecommerce) Optimize location pages to drive in-store traffic and local search visibility Optimize product, category, and informational pages to drive ecommerce conversions for glasses, contacts, and eye health products Write detailed implementation tickets for changes that require engineering support, including current state, desired state, and acceptance criteria QA SEO changes after each sprint release against the original spec
Keyword Research & Content Support Conduct keyword research across the full intent spectrum: local "near me" searches, transactional product queries, and informational eye health topics Map keywords to existing pages and identify content gaps across both retail and ecommerce funnels Support content brief creation and on-page recommendations
Reporting & Dashboard Maintenance Maintain dashboards and recurring performance reports covering organic traffic, rankings, GBP metrics, and ecommerce conversions Pull monthly and ad-hoc reports for management/executive leads. Monitor Google Search Console for anomalies and surface findings proactively
Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field. 1-2 years of hands-on SEO experience in an in-house or agency setting.
Skills/ Qualifications: Required: Working proficiency with Google Search Console, GA4, Google Business Profile, Yext, and major SEO platforms (Ahrefs, Semrush, or similar) Experience optimizing pages across multiple intent types, including transactional and local. Experience writing SEO recommendations that engineers can actually implement. Strong attention to detail. You catch the broken canonical, the missing alt tag, the title tag that got reverted in the last release. Self-directed: you can plan your own work, prioritize against deadlines, and hold yourself accountable without daily oversight. Clear written communication. You can translate technical SEO concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to Have: Experience with ecommerce SEO (product pages, category pages, faceted navigation, product schema). Experience managing local SEO at scale (multi-location retail, healthcare, or franchise environments). Familiarity with crawling tools (Screaming Frog, Sitebulb). Exposure to Google Tag Manager and basic analytics implementation. Experience working in a sprint-based or ticketed development environment. Optical, healthcare, or retail industry background.
What Success Looks Like: In your first 90 days, you'll have fully onboarded to our tech stack (Semrush, GSC, GA4, GBP, Yext, Trustpilot, Sprout Social, Looker Studio, and our CMS), taken ownership of the GBP portfolio with a documented audit of listing health, established a recurring reporting cadence the team can rely on, and shipped your first batch of on-page optimizations across both location and ecommerce pages. By six months in, you'll have driven measurable improvements in local visibility across priority markets and in organic performance on key ecommerce pages. You'll have built a working backlog of prioritized SEO tickets feeding the sprint pipeline, become the team's go-to expert on GBP and local SEO operations, and identified at least 2-3 strategic initiatives beyond the original scope of the role.
