Crossing Hurdles is seeking a Sociology Professor to develop assessment tasks and rubrics, review educational materials, and collaborate with domain experts and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design clear, measurable assessment tasks rooted in sociological concepts.
• Create high-quality rubrics aligned with assessment tasks using pedagogical frameworks like Bloom's taxonomy.
• Review educational materials and provide detailed feedback to enhance clarity and rigor.
• Synthesize sociological literature to inform task and rubric development and ensure academic integrity.
• Document assessment and rubric rationales and criteria for transparency and transferability.
• Collaborate asynchronously with domain experts and stakeholders through effective communication.
• Refine materials iteratively based on peer and project feedback.

Requirements

• PhD or ABD in Sociology or a closely related discipline.
• Active record of postsecondary teaching and research/publication.
• Expertise in developing high-quality assessment tasks and rubrics.
• Deep knowledge of pedagogical principles, including Bloom's taxonomy.
• Strong analytical and synthesis skills for distilling complex theories into educational content.
• Ability to give constructive feedback and review peer work objectively.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and a commitment to academic rigor.
