Role Description This full-time remote Spanish Medical Interpreter role focuses on facilitating clear, accurate, and confidential communication between Spanish-speaking patients and English-speaking healthcare professionals. Day-to-day responsibilities include providing real-time medical interpretation via phone or video, accurately conveying medical information, instructions, and patient concerns without adding, omitting, or altering meaning. The interpreter will ensure proper use of medical terminology, clarify ambiguities, and maintain professional boundaries while following industry standards and HIPAA-compliant practices. The role also involves occasional translation of medical documents, participating in quality assurance activities, and collaborating with coordinators or supervisors to support consistent, high-quality service delivery.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong Medical Interpretation and Interpreting skills, with fluency in Spanish and English.Candidates should possess knowledge of Medical Terminology and experience in healthcare or clinical settings.Candidates should possess abilities in Translation and written Spanish–English language work when needed.Candidates should possess proficiency in Simultaneous Interpretation and consecutive interpreting techniques.Candidates should possess excellent listening, memory, and note-taking skills, along with clear, neutral, and professional communication.Candidates should possess familiarity with confidentiality standards, HIPAA regulations, and professional ethics for medical interpreters.Relevant certifications such as CMI (Certified Medical Interpreter) or CHI (Certified Healthcare Interpreter), or equivalent training, are highly beneficial.Stable internet connection, ability to work independently in a remote environment, and comfort using phone and video-conferencing platforms are required.Prior experience as a medical or community interpreter is preferred; a background in healthcare, linguistics, or related fields is an advantage.
