Job Descriptioni-Call International is looking for fluent Spanish to English Interpreters to work remotely as consecutive medical interpreters.
As a medical interpreter, you will facilitate accurate and professional communication between Spanish-speaking patients and English-speaking healthcare providers, including doctors, nurses, and other medical staff.
Key Responsibilities- Accurately interpret medical terminology, diagnoses, treatments, and other healthcare-related information.- Facilitate communication between Spanish-speaking patients and healthcare providers.- Provide cultural mediation when necessary to help patients understand the healthcare system and healthcare providers understand relevant cultural differences.- Maintain strict patient confidentiality and follow professional and ethical interpretation standards.- Document interpretation services when required, including date, time, duration, and type of interpretation.- Stay up to date with medical terminology and healthcare practices.- Handle both OPI (Over-the-Phone Interpretation) and VRI (Video Remote Interpretation) calls professionally.
Requirements- Fluency in both Spanish and English.- Previous experience in medical interpretation or translation is preferred.- Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with healthcare systems.- Strong communication skills and cultural sensitivity.- Ability to work effectively under pressure.- Comfortable handling confidential medical conversations.- Professional and quiet workspace suitable for interpretation services.
Technical Requirements- Minimum 15 Mbps download and upload speed.- USB headset is compulsory.- PC/laptop: 5th generation or higher processor with at least 8 GB RAM.- Reliable LAN/Ethernet connection.- HD webcam.- Good-quality PC/laptop and professional background/work environment.
Schedule & Compensation- Hourly-based program.- Work schedule will be based on the EST time zone.- Pay rate: $5 USD/hour.- Monthly payment via Payoneer only.- Attendance and QA bonuses are also available.
Training- Mandatory training consists of 80 hours over 10 business days.- Training is paid at 50% of the agreed hourly rate.- Training payment is provided provided that the interpreter passes the assessment and subsequently starts working with the company.- Training timings will be communicated a few days before training begins.- Final assessment will be conducted through LanguageStat.- Candidates who pass the assessment will receive client credentials to access the interpretation portal.- The IT team will provide training and guidance on using the platform.
Employment Conditions- This is an Independent Contractor position.- Interpretation services will be provided remotely via phone and video.- No leave is permitted during the first month of employment, except emergencies with prior supervisor approval.
