SQL Database Administrator

Job Title: SQL Database AdministratorLocation: Remote Duration: Long Term Contract

The Database Administrator is responsible for the effective management of all databasesystems, both on-prem and in the cloud. This management includes, but is not limitedto installation, configuration, upgrade, maintenance, backup and recovery, optimization, securing,monitoring, and support for all database instances across the organization.
Essential Job Functions:Applies Database Administrator knowledge to all relevant Database systems, both on-prem and in the cloud. This includes the installation, configuration, maintenance, monitoring, backup and recovery, and maintenance of all DB instances across the organization. Assists in the development and design of DR systems, backup processes, optimization, performance monitoring, and capacity planning for all database instances.Ensures that the database systems of company are secured and available to organization users. This includes daily monitoring of performance metrics and availability metrics as well as monitoring of daily/weekly/monthly database maintenance jobs and applying database updates per policy as they are released.Required direct and indirect interactions with key contacts outside their own area of expertise, direct and indirect interactions with 3rd party software/server vendors and customer support, as well as escalation point of contact for internal and external teams.Daily and on call monitoring of Company database systems. Daily documentation and monitoring of assigned tasks and attendance to daily standups as well as attendance to any adhoc meetings to discuss Infrastructure tasks/goals/initiatives.Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.Advanced problem-solving and communication skills.Having wide-ranging experience, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.Must be able to coordinate, communicate, and work within the Infrastructure Team, the EB Technology Team, other EB Departments, as well as 3rd party vendors for project management, issue resolution, and support.Must be able to lift 50 pounds on an ad-hoc basis.
Education, Qualifications & Experience:5+ years of work-related DBA experience requiredMCDBA, MCSE, Server+, Linux, Certification PreferredDesign/Install/Configure/Support on-prem and cloud database system.Advanced knowledge of SQL Server (2012/2016/2019), including SSRS and Always-On Availability Groups required; migration experience moving to new SQL versions (i.e., 2012 to 2019) requiredHighly skilled in both the creation of SQL and tuning of SQL and strong knowledge of MySQL, PostgreSQL requiredExperience with AWS RDS platforms – AWS Certified Database – Specialty a plusStrong knowledge of Windows OS, PowerShell and PythonAdvanced knowledge of Couchbase - Capella is a plus.Advanced problem-solving and communication skillsStrong Customer Service FocusAdvanced knowledge of current equipment and technologies for database systems, both on-prem and cloud solutionsAvailable 24x7x365 for On-Call activitiesAbility to work with minimal supervision and assistanceAbility to manage multiple prioritiesMinimal travel requirement
