About the role
Pyramid Consulting, Inc is seeking a SQL Database Administrator to implement, configure, maintain, and optimize critical SQL Server RDBMS systems. The role helps ensure application availability and consistent performance and requires hands-on technical skills, interpersonal skills, and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Manage SQL Server databases across lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems.
- Configure and maintain database servers and processes, monitoring system health and performance to support performance, availability, and security.
- Apply data modeling techniques to support integration and performance expectations.
- Analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing end-to-end problem resolution.
- Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes.
- Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.
- Identify and resolve database performance issues and bottlenecks.
- Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems.
- Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours.
- Share technical expertise, provide mentorship and cross-training, and participate in continuous process improvement.
- Recommend system architecture in line with Microsoft SQL Server best practices.
Requirements
- 5+ years of MS SQL Server Administration experience.
- Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
- Experience with backups, restores, and recovery models.
- Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server.
