Company Description The Metropolitan School of Panama (MET), founded in 2011, is a leading PK3–12 international school located in Green Valley, Panama City. The school serves more than 775 students from 48 nationalities and employs 125 faculty members with wide-ranging international teaching experience, creating a rich, multicultural learning environment. As Panama’s first full International Baccalaureate (IB) Continuum school, the MET offers the PYP, MYP, and DP, integrating IB and Panamanian curricula with strong arts, culture, athletics, technology, and values education. Since joining Nord Anglia Education in 2017, the MET has gained access to global collaborations with institutions such as MIT, The Juilliard School, and UNICEF, enhancing opportunities for both students and educators.
Role Description The Substitute Teacher is a full-time, on-site role based in Panama City at the Metropolitan School of Panama. This role involves delivering planned lessons in accordance with MET and IB curriculum standards, maintaining a safe and inclusive classroom environment, and supporting students’ academic, social, and emotional development when permanent teachers are absent. Responsibilities include following established lesson plans, adapting instruction to diverse learners, managing classroom behavior, supervising students during instructional and transition times, and providing timely feedback on student progress as directed. The Substitute Teacher collaborates with faculty and coordinators, adheres to school policies and procedures, and contributes to the positive culture and professional standards of the MET community.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Education and Teaching, with experience working with school-age learners in a formal classroom setting.Ability to plan and implement effective Lesson Planning that aligns with established curriculum and learning objectives.Clear and professional Communication skills, including the ability to engage students, collaborate with colleagues, and interact with families when needed.Experience in Training or facilitating learning activities, supporting diverse learning styles, and differentiating instruction.Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field; relevant teaching certification or licensure is preferred.Familiarity with international or IB curricula and multicultural school environments is an asset.Demonstrated classroom management skills, reliability, and flexibility to work across grade levels as required.Proficiency in English; Spanish language skills are advantageous.
