Sustainability & Environmental Operations Specialist

About the role

PriceSmart is hiring a sustainability specialist to support the implementation and continuous improvement of the company’s Environmental Management System and environmental sustainability initiatives. The role supports operations in a fast-paced retail environment and contributes to creating exceptional employee experiences where everyone is respected and has access to equal opportunity.

Responsibilities

• Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the company’s Environmental Management System (EMS) across all countries of operation.
• Support environmental policies, procedures, standards, and operational guidelines.
• Develop and deliver environmental and sustainability training, awareness activities, and engagement initiatives in English and Spanish.
• Build partnerships with Operations, Facilities, Safety teams, Environmental Data Owners, and other stakeholders to strengthen environmental ownership and accountability.
• Support corporate sustainability projects and sustainability reporting, ESG disclosures, assessments, certifications, surveys, and benchmarking activities.
• Collaborate with Operations, Facilities, Supply Chain, Procurement, Safety, and other business functions to advance sustainability objectives.
• Coordinate with consultants, industry associations, and external partners as needed.
• Support preparation of presentations, reports, and communication materials for internal and external stakeholders.
• Perform other relevant tasks.

Requirements

• Environmental professional with sustainability knowledge.
• Highly proactive and self-driven, with strong ownership and the ability to independently prioritize, execute, and drive initiatives in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
