Role DescriptionWe are hiring a Telecommunications Engineer for OT Networks based in the Mexico City Metropolitan Area, full-time, with availability to travel to client sites. Part of the work takes place at industrial facilities, in the field, during testing and commissioning.
The engineer will contribute to the design, engineering, configuration, and implementation of telecommunications systems for oil, gas, and process industry projects: industrial LAN/WAN networks, voice communication, CCTV, access control, and outside plant cabling (copper and fiber). They will perform and validate site inspections, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and commissioning activities for delivered systems.
The role also supports procurement through vendor list development, requisitions, technical bid tabulation and clarification, and purchase recommendations; provides input on project schedule and cost estimation; documents configurations and procedures while maintaining internal standardization and configuration control; and resolves engineering problems that are non-recurring and, at times, without precedent on the project.
This position reports to the Project Lead and works closely with the engineering, control, and automation teams.
Required QualificationsThree or more years of demonstrable experience in networking and telecommunications: switching, static and dynamic routing, segmentation, LAN/WAN, wireless, and firewalls.Hands-on experience with platforms such as Cisco and/or Fortinet.Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Control and Automation, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent demonstrable experience will be considered.Technical reading proficiency in English; conversational English is a plus.Availability to travel to client sites, including multi-day stays at industrial facilities.Willingness to certify on the vendor platforms we work with.
Preferred (a plus, not a filter)Cisco CCNP or Fortinet NSE 7 certification.Experience with physical security systems: video surveillance and access control.Outside Plant (OSP) cabling design and voice communication design.Server and workstation virtualization, Active Directory, antivirus consoles, and vulnerability scanners.Working familiarity with industrial control systems (PLC, PAC, RTU, DCS, SIS).
