Transportation Manager Foodservice Industry

About the role

BMA Group Global is seeking a Transportation Manager to manage the transportation function in a fast-paced, customer-oriented environment. The role covers drivers, routing, safety, unloading, fleet maintenance, customer and driver relationships, and Department of Transportation (DOT) and Operating Company (OpCo) compliance.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Transportation Supervisors and/or drivers to support safe, efficient, timely deliveries and customer satisfaction.
• Hire, schedule, train, guide and evaluate drivers; establish job standards and handle employee relations issues, including disciplinary action.
• Supervise unionized staff in compliance with company policies and the collective bargaining agreement.
• Oversee delivery operations, department expenses, driver payroll, trip and expense reports, and resolution of operational problems.
• Use automated fleet management systems, including Roadnet and Platform science, and ensure truck computer systems are monitored and maintained.
• Prepare the annual transportation operating budget, perform cost analyses and coordinate financial reporting.
• Work closely with the Warehouse Manager to support operational efficiency.
• Monitor compliance with DOT and Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) requirements.
• Perform other duties assigned to best serve the company.

Requirements

The role includes involvement in driver selection and orientation, as well as monitoring the routing process to support customer satisfaction.
