About the role
Edge is seeking a Virtual Medical Assistant based in Peru with hands-on experience supporting U.S. healthcare practices. The role combines front-end and back-end healthcare support, helping patients and providers navigate administrative and clinical coordination processes.
Responsibilities
- Handle inbound and outbound calls, emails, and patient communications professionally in English and Spanish.
- Manage appointment scheduling, patient intake, and medical reception and front-desk support.
- Verify health insurance eligibility and benefits across U.S. payer portals.
- Obtain prior authorizations, track referral coordination, and follow up with health insurance carriers.
- Communicate with providers, billing teams, and insurance plans to resolve coverage questions and obtain missing clinical documentation.
- Maintain accurate, audit-ready patient records and track deadlines and workflow timelines in electronic health record and practice management systems.
- Escalate complex claims, billing errors, or coverage disputes to appropriate team leaders.
Requirements
- Located in Peru with a reliable work-from-home setup, including stable internet and power backup.
- Fluent in English and Spanish, verbally and in writing.
- Hands-on experience supporting U.S. healthcare practices, clinical workflows, or U.S. health insurance processes.
- Applicants living in a province outside Lima must be willing and able to travel to Miraflores, Lima to collect work equipment in person before the start date.
