The IUCN PCA Congress Webmaster is responsible for publishing, uploading, formatting and optimising web content to the IUCN PCA Congress website as necessary.Please note: This is a fixed-term contract position for the period August 2026–October 2027MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:BEFORE THE CONGRESS (8/2026 - 8/2027)• Publish, format and optimise web content and multimedia assets prepared by the Global Communications Unit, the Global Convenings Director, other IUCN teams, World Commission on Protected Areas and the Host country.• Maintain and update key Congress pages, including logistical, programme, registration, marketing and participant information.• Ensure timely publishing and updating of multilingual content in coordination with content providers, translators and consultants.• Manage user roles and permissions across Congress digital platforms.• Create and manage simple digital assets such as banners, buttons and calls-to-action to support user navigation and campaign visibility.• Identify and resolve website issues including broken links, formatting errors, image problems and performance optimisation needs.• Ensure compliance with IUCN branding, accessibility, SEO, taxonomy and digital communications standards across all Congress web properties.• Prepare and distribute multilingual email newsletters using the CiviCRM platform and approved Congress templates.• Liaise with the Global Communications Unit, the Global Information Systems Group (GISG), technical consultants and developers regarding website administration, troubleshooting and new feature implementation.• Coordinate with Congress communication officer, regional offices, programme staff, host country representatives and other focal points to maintain a coherent and user-friendly website structure.• Support the creation of simple graphic elements and page layouts for use across Congress digital platforms.• Monitor website performance and prepare regular analytics and KPI reports using Google Analytics and related tools.• Support broader communications and digital activities as required throughout the duration of the contract.• Maintain a strong working knowledge of Congress programme priorities, systems, workflows and digital tools.• Provide inputs as requested by his/her direct and functional managers in preparation to meetings and engagements.DURING THE CONGRESS (4/9 – 10/9/2027)• Participate onsite at the Congress in Panama City, Panama.• Attend daily communications and operational coordination meetings as required.• Ensure the Congress website and associated digital platforms remain fully functional and updated throughout Congress operations.• Respond rapidly to requests for website updates, troubleshooting, publishing and content modifications.• Publish and distribute Congress email communications, including daily updates, through the IUCN CRM system.• Support real-time digital publishing needs related to programme updates, logistics and participant information.• Coordinate with technical consultants and internal teams to resolve urgent website or platform issues.• Contribute to onsite reporting, issue tracking and digital coordination efforts.AFTER THE CONGRESS (9/2027-10/2027)• Support post-Congress updates and maintenance of Congress-related web content and digital assets.• Participate in debriefing sessions to evaluate digital performance and identify opportunities for future improvement.• Coordinate with IT, Congress and communications teams to archive and maintain Congress digital assets, including videos, presentations and documents.• Prepare lessons learned documentation and contribute to internal reporting.• Produce website analytics and performance reports as requested.AT ALL TIMES:• Maintain the functionality, usability, accessibility and integrity of the Congress website and associated digital platforms.• Ensure all web content aligns with IUCN branding, editorial, accessibility and digital communications standards.• Maintain accurate, up-to-date and user-friendly information across Congress digital channels.• Coordinate effectively with internal teams, consultants, developers, translators and external service providers to ensure timely delivery of web-related activities.• Monitor and troubleshoot website issues, escalating technical problems where necessary.• Support continuous improvement of the Congress website user experience and information architecture.• Maintain a strong understanding of Congress systems, timelines, workflows and digital tools.• Contribute to reporting, analytics and lessons learned documentation throughout the project lifecycle.• Carry out other related duties as assigned by the line manager.
The above job description contains the main duties and responsibilities for this position. However, in an organisation such as IUCN, staff members are expected to show flexibility in their approach to work and be willing to undertake other tasks that are reasonably allocated to them but which are not part of their regular job description.REQUIREMENTS • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Web Development, Communications or a related field.• Minimum 6 years of professional experience in website management, preferably for large-scale conferences, events or international organisations.• Proven experience managing web content using Drupal or similar content management systems.• Proficiency in HTML, CSS and basic digital design principles.• Good understanding of UX, usability, accessibility standards and SEO best practices.• Experience with Google Analytics, Search Console, email marketing platforms and related digital tools.• Experience using Adobe Creative Suite (particularly Photoshop) and Canva.• Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced international environment.• Strong interpersonal and coordination skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across teams and functions.• Fluency in English and Spanish is required. Working knowledge of French is an asset.• Willingness to work flexible hours and travel as required.• Experience supporting multilingual or high-traffic event websites is an asset.• Experience working with international organisations or large-scale events is an advantage.
