Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with physicians to diagnose and treat hematology and oncology patients, ensuring high standards of care.
- Perform thorough health histories and physical examinations, documenting findings accurately and developing individualized treatment plans.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, monitor patient responses, and adjust treatments accordingly to optimize outcomes.
- Manage chemotherapy administration and coordinate with infusion nurses to schedule and evaluate treatment protocols effectively.
- Provide expert symptom management, including addressing treatment-related toxicities and emergency symptom interventions.
- Conduct specialized procedures such as bone marrow biopsies, PICC line removals, and intrathecal chemotherapy administration.
- Educate patients and families on disease processes, treatment options, and supportive care, enhancing patient understanding and engagement.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, hospital rounds, and survivorship care planning to ensure continuity and quality of care.
What We’re Looking For
Required:
- Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited Advanced Practice Nurse program.
- Valid Nurse Practitioner license issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation before hire.
- Current DEA license with Controlled Substance Certification.
- Current BLS/CPR certification.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as an Oncology Nurse Practitioner preferred.
