Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with physicians to diagnose and treat hematology and oncology patients, ensuring high standards of care.
  • Perform thorough health histories and physical examinations, documenting findings accurately and developing individualized treatment plans.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, monitor patient responses, and adjust treatments accordingly to optimize outcomes.
  • Manage chemotherapy administration and coordinate with infusion nurses to schedule and evaluate treatment protocols effectively.
  • Provide expert symptom management, including addressing treatment-related toxicities and emergency symptom interventions.
  • Conduct specialized procedures such as bone marrow biopsies, PICC line removals, and intrathecal chemotherapy administration.
  • Educate patients and families on disease processes, treatment options, and supportive care, enhancing patient understanding and engagement.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, hospital rounds, and survivorship care planning to ensure continuity and quality of care.

What We’re Looking For

Required:

  • Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited Advanced Practice Nurse program.
  • Valid Nurse Practitioner license issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation before hire.
  • Current DEA license with Controlled Substance Certification.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as an Oncology Nurse Practitioner preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacology, palliative care, and end-of-life care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.

Preferred:

  • Experience in hematology-oncology clinical settings.
  • Familiarity with clinical trial protocols and research patient administration.
