Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze the current state of green finance in Guatemala to identify gaps and opportunities for sustainable investment growth.
  • Develop capacity-building programs tailored for government agencies, financial institutions, and industrial stakeholders to enhance their sustainability competencies.
  • Facilitate collaboration between public and private sectors to stimulate demand and supply for clean technologies.
  • Guide financial sector climate commitments by providing strategic recommendations aligned with international best practices.
  • Propose amendments to environmental and energy regulations that encourage private sector investment in sustainable solutions.
  • Promote favorable financing conditions within the banking system to support clean technology projects and sustainable business models.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators related to green finance initiatives to measure impact and inform stakeholders.
  • Engage with local and regional stakeholders to ensure alignment with Guatemala’s sustainable development goals and international climate commitments.

What We’re Looking For

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Environmental Studies, Economics, or related fields.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in green finance, sustainable investment, or environmental policy.
  • Strong understanding of clean technologies, climate finance mechanisms, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills in English; Spanish proficiency is a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders including government, financial institutions, and industry.

Preferred:

  • Experience working in Latin America, particularly Guatemala or Central America.
  • Knowledge of international climate finance platforms such as the Green Climate Fund or Climate Bonds Initiative.
  • Project management skills and experience leading multi-sector initiatives.
  • Advanced degree or certifications in sustainability, finance, or environmental management.
