Controller Role What This Job Is Join Methodology as a fully remote, senior finance leader for a profitable US-based food and wellness company. You will be the sole finance professional , reporting directly to the COO, owning all aspects of money, tax, and accounting without a finance team or manager above you. About Methodology Delivers chef-designed, health-focused meals free from gluten, dairy, and sugar to high-net-worth clients across California and nationwide Operates a commercial production kitchen, farm partnerships, and logistics network Sells direct-to-consumer (D2C) via Shopify with national shipping Expanding into CPG products including cookies, pantry items, and retail distribution Generates $26M in revenue with a 12%+ net profit margin, bootstrapped and financially stable Your Responsibilities Tax Management File all federal, state, city, and county corporate tax returns Research and claim R&D credits, WOTC, donated food credits, and energy credits Handle all IRS correspondence and audits independently Work toward or maintain Enrolled Agent credentials Accounting Operations Approve every company expense Own month-end close process (target 3–5 days) Prepare monthly P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements Reconcile Shopify, Stripe, and other merchant processors Manufacturing Accounting Track inventory for perishable and fresh food items Allocate COGS across culinary labor, delivery labor, food purchases, and packaging Manage shrinkage and waste tracking Build production cost models by SKU and menu item Strategic Finance Build budgets, forecasts, and scenario planning models Provide financial insights to support business growth and product expansion Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary of $3,200 per month with full-time, fully remote work flexibility.
