Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily activities of the maintenance shop technicians to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality repairs.
• Schedule and perform preventive maintenance and complex diagnostics on a fleet of school buses, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
• Generate and manage work orders, tracking progress from initiation through completion to maintain accurate service records.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic system issues using advanced knowledge of vehicle components and repair techniques.
• Monitor shop performance metrics and implement improvements to increase operational efficiency and reduce downtime.
• Train and mentor technicians, promoting ASE certification and continuous professional development within the team.
• Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, including drug testing and physical requirements, maintaining a safe and legal work environment.
• Maintain inventory of tools and parts, ensuring the shop is well-equipped to handle all maintenance and repair tasks.

What We’re Looking For

Required:

• Valid driver’s license; willingness to obtain CDL while employed (training provided).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in automotive or diesel maintenance and repair, or equivalent technical school education.
• Possession of a mechanic’s tool set and strong mechanical aptitude.
• Commitment to participate in ASE certification programs; company provides training, testing, and bonuses.
• Ability to pass DOT drug testing and physical examinations in compliance with 49 CFR Part 40.

Preferred:

• Previous experience in a lead technician, supervisory, or shop foreman role.
