We're looking for a seasoned Mainframe Architect (AWS Migration Specialist) to join us onsite in Richmond, VA. Key Responsibilities Lead the architecture and migration of legacy mainframe systems to AWS cloud environments, ensuring seamless transition and minimal downtime. Assess existing mainframe infrastructure and develop comprehensive migration strategies aligned with enterprise goals. Design and implement scalable, secure, and cost-efficient cloud-native architectures using AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS/Aurora, Lambda, CloudFormation, and API Gateway. Develop detailed roadmaps for refactoring, re-platforming, or rehosting mainframe applications to optimize performance and maintainability. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including cloud architects, application developers, business analysts, and DevOps to ensure successful migration execution. Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and thorough documentation to support teams throughout the migration lifecycle. Ensure compliance with security standards, regulatory requirements, and cost optimization best practices in cloud deployments. Create proof of concepts (POCs), reusable design patterns, and architecture frameworks to accelerate cloud adoption and innovation. What We're Looking For Required: 10+ years of experience with legacy mainframe systems including COBOL, JCL, DB2, and CICS. Proven track record migrating mainframe workloads to AWS cloud platforms. Hands-on expertise with AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS/Aurora, Lambda, CloudFormation, and API Gateway. Strong understanding of cloud migration frameworks and tools like Blu Age, Micro Focus, AWS Migration Hub, and CloudEndure. Deep knowledge of data migration strategies, including database re-platforming (e.g., DB2 to AWS RDS/Aurora). Excellent communication skills and ability to lead cross-functional teams. Preferred: Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines in cloud environments. Familiarity with security compliance frameworks such as HIPAA, PCI-DSS, or FedRAMP. Cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer. Strong analytical skills and a passion for continuous learning and career advancement.
