Join us as a Product Design Engineer and play a pivotal role in transforming client visions into finely detailed, buildable designs. This on-site position offers a standard 8-hour workday with flexible scheduling options, including a part-time opportunity for 25-30 hours weekly. Key Responsibilities

  • Create precise 2D and 3D CAD models and detailed shop drawings to support customer approvals and production workflows.
  • Develop design documents, methods, and drafting techniques for complex design-build and plan/spec projects.
  • Research and verify the accuracy and adequacy of technical drawings and design specifications.
  • Produce sketches, blueprints, and models that guide craftsmen in fabricating custom metalwork products.
  • Detail mechanical parts and generate part drawings for external suppliers and vendors, ensuring manufacturability.
  • Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, project managers, and internal teams to align designs with client requirements and site conditions.
  • Calculate material dimensions, requirements, and constraints to optimize production efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Support production setup, job scheduling, and documentation for new and existing Heritage Metal Works standard collections.

What We’re Looking For

Required:

  • Minimum 4 years of product design experience, preferably within metal fabrication or related industries.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as Inventor, SolidWorks, or IronCAD (training available for IronCAD).
  • Strong ability to conceptualize designs with practical fabrication and installation considerations.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with clients, architects, engineers, and craftsmen.
  • Adaptability to manage multiple projects with varying complexity and deadlines.

Preferred:

  • Experience in high-end residential metalwork design.
  • Familiarity with design-build project workflows and shop production processes.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical detailing and material properties.
