So on my previous role, the most current one, I used to coordinate the shipments with getting in contact with carriers, negotiating the rates, getting in contact with everybody at all times in order to provide a good service that the shipper, the customer was looking for, and make sure that everything runs slowly, right? So I have over four years of experience in freight forwarding coordinator, and also I have a strong background in customer service. And previous to that, I have in six years approximate of international experience. So on my previous and most current positions, my job was coordinating carriers, negotiating rates, and getting communication with everybody in order to accomplish what the customer was asking for and to deliver.
Yeah, my experience in freight brokerage is over four years that I worked for that specific industry. And so, like I mentioned in a previous video, my job was to contact carriers, negotiating rates, and coordinating the shipments, and have the communication with all parties involved, communicating with updating the shippers, updating the receivers, and getting in contact at all times with the dispatchers and carriers. Previous to that, I had a strong background in customer service, and also in international logistics. I used to work for DHL Express for quite some time, approximately 6-7 years. So that was the express service, right?
Okay, the experience I have with the dispatch software is with MBMT Movement, also with TMS, also with DAT, Trucker Tools as well for tracking. So the way I use this software is for DAT, post the loads. So there is a section that you can also, once you post the load, you put all the information, put the rate to start negotiating as a bid and start negotiating with the interested carriers. So wait for those calls, make sure that I'm with the phone on and ready to answer the phone call. So at the same time, using the DAT information is by filter the information by the carrier search a truck section, filter by lane and start calling all that list. Checking MCs first, double checking the MCs with my operational team at the same time. And as well, depending on the lane, right? So some lanes are carriers. I used to get a lot of calls. So that was fast. The ones that I, it was a very difficult to receive an incoming call. So that's the one I started using this process that I explained. Also in MBT, MBMT, I also filtered the information as to search previous carriers that I used for that lane, start calling them, asking for availability. And personally, I usually record information in Excel sheet where I put up the whole information, the carrier information, the name, phone, contact,
Well, actually, a challenge that I face coordinating deliveries or pickups is, for me, is when a driver, a carrier dispatcher, informs me that the driver is not able to pick up the load because the truck broke down or the driver hasn't get unloaded on the previous delivery. So I immediately start searching for another carrier in my database that I, you know, updated on a daily basis. So I start calling a few of them for filter the information for the lane that I was looking for, contact these guys and ask if they have availability, a truck available within the area that I'm looking for for the pickup. Also at the same time, post the loads if I used to use DAT, so post the loads in DAT and at the same time make sure that I answer the phone call if someone is very interested. And also calling carriers from DAT or selecting the lane and then search for a truck and start making the phone calls. And I usually got the opportunity to book the load within minutes, sometimes within one or two hours.
Ah, yeah, definitely. So, basically, that was my daily basis at work to communicate with all parties involved for the shipment. The shipper, the dispatcher, the driver, and the receivers at all times. So, I remember that I used to have between 4 and 7 loads a day. Some of them with appointments at pickup and deliveries, some of them with first come first served. So, I used to focus on first the appointment ones, and then I was able to jump to the other ones, the first come first served, because I had a little bit of time over there to get in contact with this, follow up with this carriers or receivers. But with appointments, yeah, it's making phone calls using all my tools, phone calls, sending texts, sending emails, check if the truck is active, if the driver was actively tracking. And I think my approach was that communication at all times, so that way I can provide that good service that the shipper is looking for in order to deliver their goods.
