Accountant

Tasks

• Manage daily banking and accounting operations, including payments, deposits, wires, and disbursements.
• Complete monthly bank, mortgage portfolio, and investor reconciliations.
• Prepare month-end financial reports, schedules, and supporting documentation.
• Independently manage monthly mortgage payment processing and investor remittances.
• Monitor missed payments, short payments, and account discrepancies.
• Process mortgage renewals, payouts, and discharges.
• Prepare mortgage discharge statements and follow up on outstanding balances.
• Monitor delinquent mortgage accounts and manage collections activities.
• Contact borrowers regarding overdue payments and negotiate payment arrangements within company guidelines.
• Maintain accurate financial records and detailed collections documentation.
• Prepare and coordinate FSRA Annual Information Return filings.
• Coordinate annual financial statement audits and prepare audit schedules.
• Coordinate annual tax slip preparation and filing.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, investor, and corporate reporting requirements.

Requirements

• Strong accounting and financial reconciliation skills.
• Experience with mortgage accounting and payment processing.
• Knowledge of investor reporting, mortgage discharges, and collections.
• Experience supporting annual audits and regulatory filings.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
