Accounting Assistant

ARA Payroll, Personnel Solutions & Training Center is recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Assistant.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate degree or equivalent in Accounting.
- Finance, or related field preferred
- 1–3 years’ experience in an accounting firm or similar professional environment
- Proficient in QuickBooks (Online & Desktop)
- Strong knowledge of Sint Maarten tax preparation and assessment filing
- Requirements for businesses and individuals
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping practices
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Commitment to confidentiality and professional ethics

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in preparing and filing tax returns and assessments in accordance with tax laws and regulations (BDO, wage tax, turnover tax, salary tax, etc.)
- Compile and organize client financial information and supporting documents
- Assist with bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, and accounting analyses
- Maintain organized and accurate client files (physical and electronic)
- Prepare and maintain working papers for audits and reviews
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes
- Assist with payroll preparation and related filings
- Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned
