Accounting Manager

About the CompanyWe are seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to lead the accounting and finance function for a growing business unit generating approximately $60 million in annual revenue, total corporate revenue around $4 Billion. This role functions similarly to a Controller position within a smaller operating company while benefiting from the resources and support of a much larger organization.
About the RoleThe ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable balancing day-to-day accounting responsibilities with process improvement initiatives. This position offers the opportunity to partner closely with operational leadership, enhance financial controls, and help drive continued business growth.
ResponsibilitiesLead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses.Develop and maintain financial reporting packages and analytical tools.Ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.Oversee project accounting activities and review estimates to ensure accurate financial reporting.Manage and develop an accounting team, including senior and staff-level accountants, while providing oversight of accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.Monitor customer collections and vendor payments while maintaining strong business relationships.Partner with operational, sales, and administrative teams to support business objectives and improve financial performance.Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen internal controls, and increase operational efficiency.Support ongoing system implementations and accounting transformation initiatives.Prepare audit schedules and coordinate with external auditors and advisors.Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.CPA designation preferred but not required.Progressive accounting and finance experience with increasing levels of responsibility.Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.Experience managing or mentoring accounting staff.Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Experience with project accounting, job costing, or multi-location operations is a plus but not required.
