Accounting Specialist

MacDermid Alpha Electronic Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Temporary Accounting Specialist to support our Finance team in Manatí, Puerto Rico. This role is responsible for a variety of accounting and financial activities, including month-end close processes, account reconciliations, inventory control, metals accounting, freight management, tax compliance, and financial reporting support.The ideal candidate will have strong accounting knowledge, experience in a manufacturing environment, and the ability to work independently while collaborating across multiple departments. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a dynamic manufacturing organization while supporting key financial and operational objectives.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform month-end closing activities and financial reconciliations.Manage assigned accounting functions such as:Freight managementMetals accountingPermanent investmentsTax compliance (including SURI reporting)Inventory controlCycle count activitiesRefining-related accounting processesAnalyze and reconcile data between multiple systems to ensure accuracy and consistency.Investigate discrepancies between financial and operational systems, recommend corrective actions, and communicate financial impacts to stakeholders.Prepare and support cost of manufacturing (COM) analyses for assigned products and materials.Collaborate with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Product Delivery, Engineering, Maintenance, and other business functions to provide financial support and insights.Support internal and external audits by preparing requested documentation and analysis.Lead and participate in finance process improvement and continuous improvement initiatives.Develop, maintain, and update standard operating procedures and desk-level documentation.Assist with special projects and other finance-related duties as assigned.Maintain compliance with company policies, internal controls, and ethical standards.QualificationsEducationBachelor's Degree in Accounting from an accredited university required.ExperienceMinimum of 5 years of accounting experience.Experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.Experience with inventory accounting, reconciliations, and financial analysis is a plus.Required Skills & CompetenciesStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Excellent organizational, planning, and time-management skills.Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to collaborate effectively with employees at all organizational levels.Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial controls, and compliance requirements.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.Experience with SAP or other ERP systems preferred.Knowledge of Microsoft Access and SQL is a plus.Commitment to continuous improvement and process optimization.Fully bilingual (English and Spanish).Work EnvironmentPrimarily office-based work environment.Extended work hours may occasionally be required during month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close periods to meet business deadlines.Why Join MacDermid Alpha Electronic Solutions?At MacDermid Alpha Electronic Solutions, we value integrity, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
