AI Engineer – Voice Agents in California City, CA

Join a fast-paced startup as an AI Engineer specializing in voice agents. Build production-grade conversational AI that improves real customer experiences. This full-time role is remote-eligible and based in California City, California.

Key Responsibilities

• Build, test, and deploy real-time voice agents that manage live customer conversations from start to finish.
• Develop with voice technology platforms and tools such as VAPI, ElevenLabs, Deepgram, and Whisper.
• Prototype quickly, iterate on feedback, and move MVPs into production-ready voice solutions.
• Integrate large language models (LLMs) with telephony tools, APIs, vector databases, and backend workflows.
• Improve conversational flows, reduce latency, and strengthen reliability in real-world applications.
• Work with senior engineers and founders on customer deployments and projects.
• Explore and implement emerging generative AI tools, frameworks, and capabilities.

Required and Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
• Experience building at least one or two working voice agents or AI projects, whether personal, academic, or professional.
• Strong understanding of LLMs, prompt engineering, retrieval systems, and conversational agent fundamentals.
• Familiarity with text-to-speech (TTS) and automatic speech recognition (ASR) providers.
• Solid programming skills in Python or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Ability to adapt to rapid changes and priorities in a startup environment.
• Curiosity, independent learning skills, and enthusiasm for generative AI.

Compensation and Job Details
