Animal Feeder and Farm Laborer in Washington, Missouri

A small family farm in the Labadie area near Washington, Missouri, is seeking dependable animal feeders and farm laborers for weekday morning and afternoon shifts. This outdoor role is a great summer job opportunity, with multiple shifts currently available.

Schedule options

• Morning shift: 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
• Afternoon shift: 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Full-time schedule: Five days per week, Wednesday through Sunday. Farm experience is required for full-time applicants; include references from farms where you have worked.
• Part-time schedule: Thursday through Sunday.
• Seasonal retail booth role: Saturdays from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., April 6 through November 2, 2024. This position involves selling at the farm retail booth.

Responsibilities

• Feed and water a large number of farm animals.
• Clean the goat barn, rabbit barn and cages, and quail shed on a rotating schedule.
• Be available to help butcher chickens or ducks.
• Optionally assist with machine milking goats twice daily.
• Travel between two farm properties located about a quarter mile apart.

Qualifications

• Comfort and ease working with animals; farm experience is preferred, and training is available for suitable candidates.
• Ability to lift 50-pound feed bags and walk approximately 10,000 steps a day.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varied conditions, including freezing temperatures, snow, ice, and heat of 90°F or higher.
• Reliable transportation for travel between the two properties.
• Honesty, a strong work ethic, and interest in animals and farm-to-table operations.
• Availability for at least one weekend day each week.

The farm prefers candidates seeking a long-term commitment of six months to a year or longer. No two days are alike, and the work combines animal care, cleaning, and hands-on farm operations.
