Luann Manderville is seeking a skilled Auto Equipment Operator II to join the Public Works Department, specifically within the Roadway and Bridge unit. This is a full-time, permanent position based in Melbourne, FL, with work performed countywide.
Position Overview
The Auto Equipment Operator II performs experienced service maintenance work operating moderately complex automotive vehicles and equipment, including ten-wheel dump trucks used for hauling construction materials to build roads and install drainage structures. This role involves routine automotive service and maintenance tasks.
Work Schedule & Compensation
- Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- Hourly Pay: $18.88 to $20.77 per hour (salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications)
- Location: South Area/Melbourne with countywide travel
Key Responsibilities
- Operate moderately complex automotive vehicles and equipment safely and efficiently
- Perform routine automotive service and maintenance
- Document work using a work management system, including opening and closing work orders and uploading photo documentation (preferred)
- Support roadway construction projects by hauling materials and assisting with drainage structure installation
Requirements
- Minimum of one (1) year experience operating moderately complex automotive vehicles and equipment such as ten-wheel dump trucks
- Experience in roadway construction preferred
- Experience with work management systems preferred
- Must possess or obtain prior to employment a valid Florida Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and maintain it throughout employment
- Ability to perform heavy physical work outdoors, with exposure to construction debris, moving machinery, traffic, and extreme weather conditions
