About the role
S&ME is looking for a motivated and passionate Project Engineer-Project Manager to join its Energy team, working on civil geotechnical, geostructural, and/or construction projects out of its Greenville-Spartanburg, South Carolina office.
As a Project Engineer, you will guide geotechnical and construction projects from initial subsurface exploration through final construction support. You will serve as a technical resource for Energy clients, helping ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with design standards and IBC requirements. The role includes engineering work, field presence, client interaction, mentoring team members, and strengthening relationships across the engineering and construction community.
Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of geotechnical, construction, and special inspection projects, aligning work with scope, budget, and regulatory requirements.
- Evaluate field and laboratory data; analyze foundations, slope stability, and settlement; and develop practical, site-specific recommendations.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor construction progress, verify compliance with plans and specifications, and address field challenges.
- Work with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders through meetings and site interactions to provide updates, resolve issues, and maintain relationships.
- Prepare reports, proposals, and field documentation; mentor junior staff; and use Metafield® to track observations and testing results.
