Construction Superintendent - Structures

MasTec Civil is growing in the Carolinas and searching for an experienced Superintendent in/near Columbia, SC!

The Structures Superintendent is entrusted with overseeing and managing all structural aspects on one of our roadway construction projects. This role requires a deep understanding and hands-on experience in day-to-day field operations, ensuring that projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with regulatory standards. The Structures Superintendent is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising construction activities, while maintaining strict adherence to project schedules and budgets.

Responsibilities

Attend all required pre job meeting(s)Review the scope of each project with the Project Manager and Area Manager prior to beginning workReceive and review all union contracts prior to union pre jobsSet up job site prior to the start of the projectReview and understand cost codes prior to starting workCommunicate and maintain a good working relationship with FDOT, inspectors, subcontractors and ownersEnsure that all work is completed according to the specifications for the projectCoordinate all subcontractor operationsManage the local union relationshipSupervise all on site employees for assigned projects.Ensure that all EEO requirements are being met or good faith efforts are being made to meet those requirements and that the efforts are documented.Complete all paperwork as required including but not limited to: daily timesheets with photo documentation, safe cards, weekly tool box talks, onboarding new employees, daily diaries, delivery tickets with cost codes, and fuel receipts.Send daily timesheets and diary notes from any Foreman completing timecard under the Superintendent's supervision.Ensure completed quantities are entered daily and accurately.Generate a two (2) week look ahead schedule on template provided by Project Manager including but not limited to activities, equipment, personnel/craft, permanent or construction material needs, and Q/C testing needsVerify that we have utility locates before any excavation is doneMaintain all tools and equipment assigned to his/her projectEnsure equipment checklists are completed as necessaryGuarantee that all required materials and equipment are on site as scheduled/neededEnsure the maximum equipment utilization on the projectOversee that the work, including the work of Subcontractors, is being done in compliance with OSHA Standards and company policiesEnsure that tool box talks are conducted on the first day of the work week and the sign in sheets are turned inEnsure that safe cards are being done and turned in on a daily basisPerform other work related duties as required

Minimum GED or High School DiplomaMinimum of 5 years of experience as a Superintendent with experience supporting structural components of roadways, highways or bridgesRailroad/CSX experience is a plus!
