About the role

Zachry Nuclear Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Designer II, Civil/Structural & Mechanical for a direct hire position. The Designer II, CSM develops structural diagrams and engineering drawings in 2-D or 3-D environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop structural diagrams for pipe and conduit supports, foundations, equipment mounting, general arrangements, fire stops and seals, P&IDs, piping plans and sections, and isometrics.
• Produce complex engineering drawings and check them for accuracy, dimensions, spelling, drafting standards, completeness, and compliance with project design criteria.
• Participate in field walk downs as necessary to obtain measurements, verify as-built documentation, and develop field sketches supporting plant modifications and design installations.
• Communicate with project engineers and other disciplines to develop drawings and resolve design discrepancies.
• Interface with the customer and construction representatives to integrate designs with their standards.

Requirements

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to direct drafting personnel on drawing assignments.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation CAD software, or equivalent software, and Microsoft Office software such as Word and Excel; competency in email and database applications.
• Demonstrated technical knowledge of design practices, codes, and standards applicable to structural components.
• Working knowledge of structural steel types and materials available in the industry.
