About the role
The Director of Music at Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Santa Monica directs the choir and leads congregational singing during Sunday morning services.
Responsibilities
- Lead weekly choir rehearsals, select music appropriate to worship themes, and direct choir performances.
- Work with the Music Committee to plan musical events at the church.
- Support children’s and youth participation in the musical life of the church.
- Work closely with the Minister and collaborate with lay church leaders on Sunday worship through the Worship Associates Team.
Requirements
- Compelling, collaborative leadership style and excellent communication skills.
- Strong conducting ability, working knowledge of vocal technique, and basic keyboard proficiency.
- Stylistically diverse repertoire of music literature appropriate for Unitarian Universalist worship.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
