Job DescriptionWe are seeking a Registered Nurse Specialty to join our team supporting Carelon. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in emergency department nursing, medication administration, and patient triage and a proven ability to deliver safe, evidence-based care, coordinate emergent interventions, and document accurately.Responsibilities:Perform duties within RN scope of practice, facility policies and procedures, INS Standards, and approved protocols.Complete admission processes and conduct focused or comprehensive physical assessments as warranted, referring to NP when indicated.Conduct initial assessment and triage, including prioritization of care and measurement of vital signs.Administer intravenous, intramuscular, oral, and other medications per prescriber orders and protocols; verify completeness and accuracy of all medication orders prior to treatment.Monitor vital signs, neurological status, and responses to therapies; evaluate and document patient progress.Manage wounds, hemorrhages, fractures, burns, and other emergencies; prepare procedures and assist physicians.Coordinate transfers when necessary and collaborate with specialist physicians and care teams.Accurately and promptly document evaluations, interventions, treatments, responses, and critical events in the medical record.Educate patients and family members regarding therapy plans and discharge instructions; provide emotional support.Comply with isolation protocols, infection control procedures, and safety measures; ensure HIPAA compliance.Verify proper functioning and readiness of emergency medical equipment; support supply and inventory processes.Perform safe handoffs at shift change and manage care for both adult and pediatric patients.Report significant changes to the Center Director and follow up on identified problems.
Required Skills & Qualifications:Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Puerto Rico; multi-state licensure if providing services in multiple states.Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience; Emergency Room experience required.Advanced life support certifications: ACLS and PALS.Tuberculosis test completion and Hepatitis B vaccine or signed waiver (Paragon and Carelon Health).Valid Health Certificate, Law 300 Certificate, vaccination record, and Criminal Background Check Certificate.Availability to work rotating schedules, weekends, holidays, and night shifts; onsite role with patient-facing duties and medication access.
Preferred Skills:BSN and 3+ years of related nursing experience.IV therapy experience and prior management or charge experience.Active membership in a professional nursing association.Schedule Details:Candidates must be available to work any assigned shift on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Schedules will be established and communicated monthly. Shifts may be 8 or 12 hours. Potential shift times include 7:00 AM–3:00 PM, 11:00 AM–7:00 PM, and 3:00 PM–11:00 PM, subject to business needs and staffing requirements.
