Engineering Team Lead

This role is foundational to Betty's South American expansion.
Technical Context:
● Betty has developed a robust in-house product that has propelled the business to #1 in Ontario● In order to scale globally, this product needs to be adapted in further developed in each market we enter● An engineering lead for a new market must gain deep understanding of the existing product and possess the technical expertise to adapt and develop the product further● The platform consists of about 20 back-end services; Web, iOS and Android apps built in React Native; Data & BI solution implemented with Kafka, Airflow and AWS Redshift, as well as Tableau
Key Responsibilities:
● Fully own the end-to-end technical solution for the South American markets● Lead cross-functional engineering teams● Provide guidance on software design and architecture to ensure scalability and optimal performance● Design and develop robust, distributed systems using C# and .NET (WebAPI) and React Native● Lead efforts in performance optimization, troubleshooting, and post-deployment support● Maintain high code quality through unit, integration, and performance testing● Drive CI/CD automation and ensure smooth deployment processes● Foster an environment of continuous learning by conducting regular knowledge-sharing sessions and code reviews● Collaborate with other cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver high-quality products in a fast-paced environment
Requirements:
● Previous experience in a tech leadership / lead engineer role● Extensive experience with C# and .NET, building REST APIs with WebAPI● Good understanding of React Native and client side development● Strong expertise in SQL databases and query optimization● Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)● Experience with CI/CD and infrastructure automation● Hands-on experience with Docker or other relevant containerization tools● Strong knowledge of system design, architecture, and best practices● Understanding of security principles and scalable application development● Experience with unit, integration, and performance testing● Proactive mindset with a strong sense of ownership● Excellent written and spoken English
