Job description
A leading global institutional investor is seeking an experienced Investment Tax professional to join its in-house tax team in New York City. This role offers the opportunity to work directly with investment professionals across a diversified portfolio of public and private market investments, providing strategic tax advice on complex transactions and investment initiatives.
This position is ideal for candidates with experience in investment funds, asset management, private equity, private credit, international tax, or transaction tax who are looking to take on a highly commercial, investment-focused role.
Key ResponsibilitiesAdvise investment teams on tax considerations related to prospective investment opportunities across private and public markets.Support investment structuring, tax due diligence, and transaction execution for private credit, public credit, private equity, and other alternative investments.Identify, assess, and manage tax risks while helping drive tax-efficient investment outcomes.Partner with external advisors on technical tax matters, tax opinions, and jurisdiction-specific issues.Monitor legislative, regulatory, and tax policy developments and evaluate their impact on existing and prospective investments.Collaborate closely with investment, finance, legal, compliance, and corporate services teams throughout the investment lifecycle.Provide tax support for complex cross-border transactions and investment structures.Contribute to broader tax strategy, governance, risk management, and process improvement initiatives within the tax function.Participate in the evaluation of new products, structures, and investment strategies from a tax perspective.
Qualifications6-10 years of relevant tax experience, with preference for international or M&A/funds tax experience.Experience within investment funds, asset management, private equity, private credit, transaction tax, international tax, or a related field.Juris Doctor or Master of Taxation required, LL.M. in taxation preferred.Strong understanding of partnership taxation, investment structures, and cross-border tax considerations.Experience supporting transactions, due diligence, structuring, or investment-related tax advisory projects.Ability to analyze complex tax issues and communicate recommendations to both tax and non-tax stakeholders.
Compensation:$200k/250k base salary + bonus
Days in office:4 days per week
