About the role
BCG Attorney Search seeks a highly motivated intellectual property associate to join its Miami, United States office. The role involves sophisticated life sciences patent matters for a diverse client base, including Fortune 50 companies and innovative start-ups.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, file, and prosecute U.S. and international life sciences patent applications.
- Conduct freedom-to-operate, IP due diligence, infringement, validity, and patent landscape searches and analyses.
- Advise clients on patent issues throughout the product lifecycle, including strategic consultation, portfolio management, and patent enforcement.
- Collaborate with clients, colleagues, the USPTO, and foreign associates on domestic and international patent prosecution matters.
- Contribute to a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment that supports professional growth and client service excellence.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience as a patent attorney in biotechnology.
- An advanced degree in biological sciences; a Ph.D. is preferred. Relevant fields include molecular biology, cell biology, microbiology, immunology, and genetics.
- Superior academic credentials.
- Experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications relating to biologics or other large-molecule technologies.
- Experience conducting freedom-to-operate, IP due diligence, infringement, validity, and patent landscape searches and analyses.
- Registration in good standing to practice before the USPTO and admission to at least one State bar.
- Prior law firm experience is preferred.
- Excellent analytical, writing, communication, and organizational skills; strong attention to detail; and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
