Job description

Litigation Associate | Jacksonville, FL | $125,000 to $200,000 | General Liability
Nobody went to law school to become a very expensive email forwarder.
Yet plenty of general liability associates spend their days relaying adjuster questions to a partner and relaying the answers back. You draft the report, the partner signs it, and the carrier never learns your name. It's safe, it's billable, and it does very little for your career.
I'm Ryan Jaiswal at Distinct Recruitment, and I'm hiring a general liability defense associate in Jacksonville for an insurance defense firm that puts associates on the phone with clients themselves.
On your desk• Premises liability, negligent security, retail and hospitality defense• Your own files, with ownership of case strategy from the first report• Direct carrier contact: evaluations, reporting and settlement authority conversations• Depositions, hearings and mediations handled by you• A route toward trial work for those who want it
On your CV• Florida Bar membership• 2+ years of litigation experience, defense or plaintiff• Counsel level applicants are just as welcome. There's no ceiling on experience
On your terms• Office, hybrid or remote. You pick• 1,900 billable hours
On your payslip• $125,000 to $200,000, a wide range that reflects the wide range of experience they'll consider• I'll tell you where I think you'd land in it before you apply
Why client contact matters so muchCarriers send files to lawyers they know and trust. The associates who build those relationships early are the ones who get the better files, the trial assignments and, eventually, the credit that turns into a book of business. An associate the adjuster calls directly is building a career. One who only drafts for a partner's signature is building someone else's.
What happens next• A short, confidential call with me to see whether it fits• An honest description of the team, the caseload and the working pattern• An introduction to the firm only when you want one• Feedback after every stage, good or bad
Before you apply, I'm happy to answer anything. I'm Ryan Jaiswal at Distinct Recruitment., or look me up and connect: Ryan Jaiswal on LinkedIn. Prefer to book? goes straight into my calendar, and it works just as well after you've applied if you want to review your application together.
