Job description

Litigation Attorney | Jacksonville, FL | $125,000 to $195,000 | Auto
Two trials a year will teach you more than twenty mediations you prepped for someone else.
Every litigator knows this, and yet a lot of auto defense careers are built almost entirely on the second kind of experience. You prepare the file beautifully, the case settles on the courthouse steps, and the only jury you've addressed is the one in your head on the drive home.
I'm Ryan Jaiswal at Distinct Recruitment, and I'm filling this auto defense role in Jacksonville on behalf of an insurance defense firm that wants its attorneys trying cases, not just preparing them.
The practice• Motor vehicle liability defense, answer through verdict• Auto negligence, commercial vehicle and uninsured motorist related claims• Your own depositions, including plaintiffs, treating physicians and accident reconstruction experts• Your name on the pleadings and your voice in front of the jury• Working with adjusters on valuation, so you understand the whole economics of a file
The requirements• Florida Bar membership• 2+ years of litigation experience. Auto helps, trial experience helps more, and neither is essential• No experience cap. Counsel level trial lawyers are very much in scope
The arrangements• Hybrid, working from the Jacksonville office part of the week• 1,950 billable hours
The compensation• $125,000 to $195,000, wide enough for a 2nd year or a counsel level trial lawyer• I'll give you a straight view on where you'd land before you apply
The trial questionAsk any firm whether associates get to try cases and they'll say yes. The useful question is how many, how soon, and who sits first chair. I'd encourage you to ask exactly that at interview. This firm's answer is a big part of why I'm recruiting for it.
Why it mattersTrial experience is the most portable credential in insurance defense. It's what carriers look for when they pick counsel for difficult files, and it's what partnership conversations are built on. Two years of real trial reps can change the trajectory of a whole career.
A note on the processI'll give you a straight description of the caseload, the trial calendar and the team before you apply, and I'll only introduce you to the firm once you've decided it's worth your time. Feedback after interviews comes from me, quickly, whichever way it goes.
Questions first, or already applied and want to talk it through? I'm Ryan Jaiswal at Distinct Recruitment, on. Connect with Ryan Jaiswal on LinkedIn, or book a slot in my calendar either way
