Mainframe DevOps Migration Consultant in Fremont, CA

Gaurav Kumar is seeking a skilled Mainframe DevOps Migration Consultant for a contract role based in Fremont, California. This position focuses on modernizing mainframe applications by migrating legacy systems to DevOps-driven infrastructures, enhancing operational efficiency and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Leverage mainframe technologies such as z/OS and DB2 to support and execute migration initiatives.
• Implement and manage DevOps tools including Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes to enable continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD).
• Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python and Bash to streamline workflows.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate migration requirements, schedules, and deliverables.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to mainframe systems and their integrations with modern platforms.
• Create and maintain detailed documentation and standard operating procedures to ensure consistent and repeatable processes.
• Participate actively in project planning, status meetings, and delivery reviews to ensure milestones are met.

Required and Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• Proven expertise in mainframe environments, specifically z/OS and DB2.
• Hands-on experience with DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Strong scripting skills in Python and Bash for automation purposes.
• Previous experience in a similar mainframe migration or DevOps role is highly preferred.

This role requires close collaboration with developers, system administrators, QA engineers, and project managers to ensure seamless migration and integration. The consultant will report directly to the project manager and contribute to a team-oriented environment focused on delivering high-quality results.
