Mainframe Network Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Mainframe Network Engineer to design, configure, implement, and support network connectivity within IBM mainframe environments.

Tasks

• Install, configure, and maintain z/OS Communications Server components.
• Manage and troubleshoot TCP/IP configurations on IBM z/OS.
• Maintain VTAM definitions and network resources.
• Support Enterprise Extender (EE), SNA connectivity, and TN3270 sessions.
• Ensure reliable connectivity between mainframes, distributed servers, enterprise applications, and external partners.
• Troubleshoot IP routing, port communication, session failures, DNS resolution, and firewall issues.
• Support FTP, SFTP, and secure file transfer solutions.
• Diagnose and resolve network connectivity issues affecting critical production workloads.
• Collaborate with network security teams to implement secure communication protocols.
• Support SSL/TLS certificates and secure data transmission.
• Assist with firewall rule validation, port reviews, vulnerability remediation, and audit compliance.
• Support network design and recovery procedures for disaster recovery environments.
• Validate connectivity for failover systems and backup data centers.
• Participate in disaster recovery testing and business continuity exercises.

Requirements

• The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with z/OS Communications Server, TCP/IP, VTAM, SNA, Enterprise Extender, TN3270, and secure network connectivity across enterprise systems.
• Experience supporting IBM mainframe networking environm
