Manager, Engineering - Capital Projects
Position SummaryThe Engineering Manager is responsible for leading and directing all engineering activities within a manufacturing environment. This role oversees capital projects, facility expansions, process improvements, equipment implementation, operational support, and regulatory compliance. The Engineering Manager ensures projects and initiatives are executed in alignment with organizational objectives, project management standards, and operational goals while fostering a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and employee development.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage all engineering activities to support manufacturing operations and business objectives.Direct facility expansion projects, capacity improvement initiatives, and capital investments.Oversee the evaluation, procurement, installation, and startup of new equipment, technologies, and manufacturing processes.Provide engineering support for ongoing operations to improve reliability, efficiency, productivity, and quality.Ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.Manage engineering projects from concept through implementation, ensuring adherence to established project management practices, schedules, and budgets.Develop and execute departmental business plans and strategic initiatives.Allocate resources effectively to achieve operational and financial objectives.Identify, analyze, and resolve complex technical, operational, and organizational challenges.Partner with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.Maintain awareness of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.Build and maintain productive relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to support evolving business needs.Support data-driven decision making through the application of statistical analysis and performance metrics.Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Required QualificationsEducationBachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline required.ExperienceMinimum of ten (10) years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.Preferred: Five (5) or more years of leadership or management experience within engineering, technical operations, or manufacturing.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Technical ExpertiseExpert knowledge of engineering principles, standards, methods, and industry practices.Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, and operational systems.Proven experience managing capital projects, facility improvements, and technology implementations.Ability to investigate and solve complex technical and operational problems.Knowledge of statistical methods and analytical tools used for business and operational decision making.
Leadership & ManagementDemonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop engineering and technical professionals.Experience managing employee performance, providing feedback, and supporting career development.Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to make sound technical and business decisions.Ability to influence teams and lead improvement initiatives across multiple functions.Commitment to fostering accountability, collaboration, and high-performance team culture.
