What You Will Experience In This Position
Join nVent Management Company as a Mechanical Designer in Fulton, MO or Oshkosh, WI. Use your creativity and technical skills to build innovative solutions that protect and connect our customers' most critical assets. Build product designs and comprehensive documentation for new and existing products, ensuring flawless execution of layouts, 3D models, drawings, BOMs, and other essential documents for manufacturingManage both small-scale and portions of large-scale projects with minimal supervisionIndependently develop detailed product layouts for various build aspectsBuild components and assemblies using advanced 3D CAD systemsGuide and aid in the fabrication of components and assemblies for prototypes and pilot buildsParticipate in Lean activities to improve efficiency and effectivenessAssist in developing engineering, drafting, and release standardsPerform tolerance stack analysis on complex assemblies and drawings before documentation releaseEngage in the product development process, including building brainstorming and customer feedback activitiesInitiate and prepare Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and develop BOMsConduct research to gather complete specifications, ensuring documentation accuracyComplete required calculations to verify dimensions, tolerances, and other specifications with minimal oversightProvide technical expertise in tools such as SolidWorks and EnoviaAssess and approximate incoming engineering work, delegating tasks to Designer Associates as necessaryDeliver leadership, task direction, and technical support to Designer AssociatesAssume a documentation leadership role with some degree of supervision
You Have
A two-year technical degree in drafting or building preferredIdeally 3+ years of experience in mechanical drafting/build, preferredKnowledge of drafting standards, GD&T, and manufacturing processes, preferredProficiency in Product Data Management, ECO, and Product Development Processes, preferredExperience in mechanical design and managing the fabrication of components and assemblies, preferredExperience with Inventor, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Enovia, Oracle, and JD Edwards, preferredKnowledge of manufacturing processes, preferredAbility to independently identify and define materials and information needed for projectsCapability to assemble engineered build packagesDemonstrated attention to detail and accuracy
