Role Description This is a full-time, remote role for Spanish-English Medical Interpreters providing Over-the-Phone Interpreting (OPI) and Video Remote Interpreting (VRI). Day-to-day tasks include accurately interpreting medical conversations between healthcare professionals and patients, ensuring clear understanding of diagnoses, treatments, procedures, and consent information. Medical Interpreters will manage real-time calls and video sessions, maintain strict confidentiality, and adhere to professional ethical standards and institutional guidelines. The role involves following established medical terminology and protocols, documenting session information as required, and using company platforms and tools to connect with healthcare facilities. Interpreters are expected to be punctual, responsive to scheduling needs, and able to handle urgent or sensitive medical encounters with professionalism and empathy.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong Medical Interpretation and Interpreting skills, with experience in healthcare settings preferred.Candidates should possess solid Medical Terminology knowledge in both Spanish and English to support accurate clinical communication.Candidates should possess capabilities in Simultaneous Interpretation for fast-paced medical discussions when needed.Candidates should possess Translation abilities for occasional written medical documents or instructions.High level of fluency in Spanish and English, with excellent listening and speaking skills in both languages.Prior experience as a medical or community interpreter, or completion of formal interpreter training or certification, is highly beneficial.Strong ethical standards, confidentiality awareness (including HIPAA or equivalent privacy practices), and cultural sensitivity.Reliable high-speed internet, a quiet professional workspace, and comfort using remote communication platforms (OPI, VRI, and related software).Ability to remain calm under pressure, manage sensitive or emotionally charged conversations, and maintain professional boundaries.Availability for full-time shifts with flexible scheduling, including evenings, nights, or weekends as needed to support 24/7 operations.
