Mental Health Monitor Sitter

The Mental Health Monitor/Sitter provides constant observation of patients who are in a medical safety risk situation, receives direct oversight of being at risk and the sitter’s job supports patient safety. The position involves visual and direct monitoring of patients at risk, documenting observations accurately, and reporting observations and incidents to licensed nursing staff and following all instructions from the medical personnel responsible for the unit. The role is critical in maintaining patient safety and supporting mental health care services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide continuous observation of patients on assigned unit, through accurate vitals, our unit’s protocol and procedures.
- Monitor patients through in-person observation and assigned video surveillance systems.
- Document observations accurately and promptly on the unit.
- Follow direct instructions for patient safety as outlined by the medical personnel.
- Support the unit staff.

REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience monitoring patients with severe mental health or behaviors, strong communication skills and excellent documentation.
- Minimum of six (6) months of clinical experience in a medical setting.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
