Job description
About the role
The Mental Health Monitor/Sitter provides consistent observation of patients on suicide watch, in therapeutic restraints, or otherwise identified as high risk for harm or behavior. The role is critical in maintaining patient safety and supporting mental health care services.
Responsibilities
- Provide continuous observation of patients on suicide watch, in therapeutic restraints, or identified as high risk.
- Monitor patients through in-person or distant observation through video.
- Report incidents or concerning behavior to appropriate staff.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient observations.
- Follow instructions from medical and nursing personnel.
- Assist with communication to ensure patient safety and care continuity.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience monitoring patients or working with patients and reporting findings.
- Minimum of six (6) months of clinical experience in a medical setting.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to patient risk.
- Availability to work shifts as needed.
