Mental Health Monitor Sitter

The Mental Health Monitor/Sitter provides continuous observation of patients who are on suicide watch, in therapeutic restraints, or otherwise identified as being at risk of self-harm or harm to others. The position involves visual and video monitoring, documentation, observations accurately, and keeping accurate information regarding observations. In some cases, the sitter may be required to perform licensed nursing tasks and follow all instructions from the medical personnel responsible for the unit. The role critically maintains patient safety and supporting mental health care services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide continuous observation of patients on suicide watch or in therapeutic restraints, or otherwise at risk.
- Monitor patients through one-on-one observation and assigned video surveillance systems.
- Document all observed behavior and symptoms.
- Record behavior and concerns, and incidents.
- Follow all instructions from the medical personnel responsible for the unit.
- Provide de-escalation and immediate action as directed.
- Report observations and incidents accurately and timely.

REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience monitoring patients.
- Minimum of 6 months of clinical experience, working in a medical setting.
- Strong documentation skills.
- Compassionate and calm.
- Strong communication skills.
